ASCU in Action: Events That Made Memories

Wasting no time, the newly elected board got straight to work. First up was a program-wide midterm study session at Butler Library—equipped with caffeine, snacks, and a lot of shared determination.

And just as we emerged victorious from our exams, Halloween was upon us! The board dressed up and brought the festive spirit to campus with a "trick-or-treat" trail for classmates. For a moment, we were all kids again—grinning behind costumes and candy wrappers.

As the trees turned a golden hue and the air grew crisp, the looming finals reminded us of the challenges ahead. But we weren’t alone. Our heartfelt gratitude this Thanksgiving goes to Professors Lina Xu, Abraham Weishaus, and Yubo Wang, who went the extra mile by organizing special study sessions to help us revise. Their unwavering support truly motivates us to aim higher.

And just like that, the end of the semester arrived. What better way to celebrate than with a karaoke party? Students, faculty, and guest speakers gathered to sing, laugh, and bid the year goodbye—belting out hits like Let Her Go by Passenger, side by side with professors.

As the final exams drew to a close, so did a cherished chapter with our graduating seniors. Over the past 16 months, they have been more than just classmates—they’ve been mentors, teammates, and friends. Together, they built a community rooted in support, shared ambition, and a love for learning. Whether it was lending a helping hand during stressful times or offering guidance to us newcomers, their presence made all the difference.

Now, as they step into new roles and new cities—some returning home, others forging new paths—we bid them farewell, not with sadness, but with pride. Though the academic journey may have reached its conclusion, the spirit of curiosity that defines actuaries keeps the journey of learning alive.

We know this isn’t goodbye forever. In the years to come, we’ll cross paths again—as colleagues, collaborators, leaders, and proud alumni.

From all of us in the ASCU Board and the Class of 2025:
Thank you for everything. We wish you success, joy, and fulfillment in all that lies ahead.

Until we meet again.
